as a student, he was involved in the fight for independence; in
1905, he took part in the school strike, later, he was a member
of the Rifle Club. After graduation, he left to study medicine at
Sorbonne in Paris, where he led the Parisian section of the Rifle
Club. In 1914, he served in the Second Platoon of the First
Company, created by Józef Piłsudski. He was a lieutenant in the
First Legion Brigade. He died in the battle of Kukle in the Wołyń
region, fighting against Russians, on 26 October 1915. Post
mortem, he was awarded Virtuti Militari and the Cross of Szyk included the Cross of
Independence. He is buried at the Jewish Cemetery in Warsaw. Independence, awarded to

Artur Szyk depicted the legionnaires at fight. In the work, a Polish
and French inscription is included:
"Bronisław Mansperl, sub-lieutenant of the First Brigade of Polish
Legions, died for Poland on 21 October 1915 in the battle of
Kukle. Glory to his memory."

Army, diplomat, legionnaire; in 1914-1915 – took part in the same
battles as Mansperl and just like him, he was promoted to lieutenant
and awarded the Virtuti Militari medal. Personal aide-de-camp of
Jozef Piłsudski. After World War Two broke out, he was to replace
president Mościcki but was removed from the office. He left for New
York, where he committed suicide.
