The scene depicts an event taking place in 1334 in
Krakow (The Mariacki Church tower is visible in the 6 69
window). King Casimir the Great confirms the privileges STATUTE OF KALISZ
for Jews. Before him, Jewish notables are standing,
wearing traditional clothes, with their heads covered,
holding a document. The king is surrounded by Polish
gentry.
Text in French and Latin. On the decorative bordure,
words in Latin: In the name of the Lord. Amen.
