‘My father wasn’t a hero to me – he is
a hero to you. He was simply my father.
He would always tell us at home that
the best ones died in the ghetto. ‘Two
weeks of running on rooftops, and
later such a commotion’, he added. It
is a fact that he was a wise, courageous
and noble man, even though one could
say that in a sense it was my mother
who did more good’.
