‘Our parents didn’t fret about us unless
we were ill. They were both doctors,
the social activist type. They devoted all
their time and passion to treating and
saving their patients. They never sat
us on their laps nor hugged us. It’s not
that they were cold, they simply didn’t
pay attention to us. After what they had
gone through they might have believed
that children really do have everything
they need as long as they are healthy
and don’t starve’.
