Mordechaj Anielewicz
(1919-1943)
‘Why was Anielewicz the commander? - He wanted to be
one very much, so we chose him. (…) He was a capable boy,
well-read, vigorous. He used to live in Solec Street before
the war. (…) I think that he believed that in some kind of
victory in the end’.
After Mordechaj Anielewicz’s death Marek Edelman
became the leader of the insurgents, Marek Edelman
became the last commander of the ghetto uprising.
