Rabbi of Lodz, Dawid Szychowski will light another candle on Hanukkah and talk about the roots of this tradition and the religious basis of the December holiday. The Hanukkah evening will be highlighted by a performance by Yuri Vedenyapin. There will, of course, be doughnuts, which - fried in oil - symbolize the miracle of the multiplication of oil after the recovery of the Jerusalem Temple.

Yuri Vedenyapin is a singer, actor and specialist in Yiddish language and culture. For many years, he taught Yiddish language and literature at Harvard University in the US and McGill University in Canada. Author of song lyrics from the repertoire of the New York band The Klezmatics and other Yiddish performers. Co-author (with Alan Bern) of the musical “Di megile fun Weimar,” based on poems by Icyk Manger, J. W. Goethe and his own works, in which he also played several roles. For the past year he has been living in Poland, where he performs with literary and musical programs, writes columns and participates in educational projects.
