Having gained enormous acclaim both in
Poland and abroad, the Szyks decided to stay for 2 21 BIOGRAPHY
a longer period in their native city. They moved
to a house at 20 Śródmiejska Street (today
Więckowskiego).
The artist regularly published his drawings in
Łódź newspapers (including the "Republika"). It was
then that he created a caricature of one of the most

Broderson, theater director and poet associated with
the Jung Idysz group. Szyk also pursued commercial
contracts: he designed packaging for a confectionery
company E. Wedel, he also designed a donation
certificate for the construction of the Marshal Józef
Piłsudski Monument−House in Łódź. He also
actively participated in the life of the city, he was a
member of the Montefiore B'nei B'rith Association
and joined a paramilitary Jewish organization – the
Berek Joselewicz Legion. In 1932, he was nominated
for the prize of the City of Łódź.
