            Jehuda Widawski (born 1919) comes from Turek. In the 1920s, his family
            moved to Łódź, where they lived in 1 Maja Street and then Zachodnia Street.
            Sixteen-year-old Jehuda founded his company producing underwear and clo-
            thing, he was also an active member of the Zionist organization. In 1940, the
            Widawski family were forced into the ghetto and living firstly in Zielna Street
            and then Zgierska Street. All the time, they were employed in tailors’ workshops.
            During the liquidation of the ghetto in August 1944, they were transported to
            Auschwitz where the parents and the eldest brother of Jehuda were murdered.
            One of his brothers, Chaim Mosze, was sent to Buchenwald, where he died,
            while his younger sister Johewet lost her life in Stutthof.
            Jehuda and his younger brother Jehoszua were deported from Auschwitz to
            the camp in Friedland, where they were liberated. After the war, they returned
            to Łódź. In 1950, Jehuda and his family emigrated to Israel. Since the late
            1970s, he has regularly returned to Łódź and committed himself to the cause
            of remembrance of Łódź Jews.
