During the deportation, the railway siding Radegast was used, which until au-
tumn 1941, had served as a freight station of the ghetto. From that moment,
Jews deported to the ghetto from the Reich and neighbouring towns were
also brought there. Starting in January 1942, transports to the death camp in
Chełmno on the River Ner, to labour camps, and in the summer of 1944, to
Auschwitz-Birkenau, were sent out from the station. In the station, there were
also warehouses and a construction plant where wooden houses intended
for the German victims of allied bombing were built. In the photos: Radegast
