1948. Unveiling of the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes at the corner of
Zamenhofa and Anielewicza (formerly Gęsia) Streets. On 19 April 1948,
on a proposal from the Board of the Association of Combatants for
Independence and Democracy (Związek Uczestników Walki Zbrojnej
o Niepodległość i Demokrację), Marek Edelman was decorated with the
Order of the Cross of Grunwald, 3rd Class, ‘for his merits in the combat
