In April 1989, Marek Edelman was awarded a honorary
doctorate by the Yale University. He was also awarded the
Order of the White Eagle, the highest Polish honour (1998),
a Honorary Citizen of Łódź (2000), Honorary Citizen of the
Capital City of Warsaw (2001); Honorary Doctor of the
Medical University of Łódź (2007), Jagiellonian University
(2009), Université Libre in Brussels; he was also awarded
the French Legion of Honour (2008).
